Ten years ago, very few people have thought it would be possible to hear music from your computer the basement of your home entertainment system above, or download songs to your Wi-Fi MP3 player. But Wi-Fi technology has made possible not only these, but a host of other applications. Technology is now in a multitude of electronics devices, as well as home theater receivers, portable gaming devices, DVD players and even digital cameras.
Most people correlate the term Wi '-fi' with the ability to surf the Internet wirelessly. Although this definition is not correct, there is more to the Wi-Fi not only surf the Internet. Besides all the advantages of Wi-Fi, many of the safeguard measures taken to prevent misuse of technology by unauthorized users.
Looking ahead
The 802.11n (expected in early 2009), should open the door to a wide assortment of new applications over Wi-Fi. Although final specifications have not been disclosed, the transfer rate is reportedly 10 times faster than current standards (540Mbps, compared with existing 54 Mbps). This is more than enough bandwidth to handle even the most demanding transfers.
If adopted the rule, and transfer rates remain at their levels of speculation, reliable transmission of high definition media may finally become a reality
Thanks to Wi-Fi, users are no longer confined by the ropes that link to their devices, enabling new levels of connectivity without sacrificing function or the options design. With the current level of 802.11a and 802.11b, security and interference are the main problems with existing Wi Fi standards, and its inability so reliable stream of high-definition audio and video.
