A financial disaster led the young company into bankruptcy in July 2009, but her prince was a technology company in Asia that has guided the project to safety. Making its debut in 2010.

Polymer Vision was hatched in 2003 in an infant incubator of technology developed by Royal Philips Electronics NV, and finally spin. Four years later, Technology Capital SA of Luxembourg acquired a majority of the shares above support from Philips and turned Polymer Vision loose to go ahead and do great things.

As a result, Polymer Vision is the proud father of the Readius, an e-reader the size of a card credit, the prototype made its debut in late 2006 in the consumer electronics show IFA in Berlin. Dutch Polymer Vision's executive team had great hopes on the mobile device with a rollable display that was larger than the device itself. But the company was embroiled in financial difficulties in July 2009, when which filed for bankruptcy, putting the invention with high hopes in limbo.

However, the technology company in Asia Wistron - which is a spin-off from Acer -- came to the rescue in late 2009 and rose baby Polymer Vision. Wistron has confirmed that in 2010 will release a 5-inch device from Polymer Vision technology which has a similar drop to the prototype to show they took to the IFA exhibition in 2006. With the current contract of sale, PV will be able to maintain around the 80% of their stuff. Polymer Vision's team is part of the Wistron Mobile Business Group.

The Readius uses E Ink Corp. 's ink image Vizplex film called "DAP" - electronic paper display, or alternatively, electrophoretic display - which was originally developed at MIT in the 1990s. DAP higher resolution than the LCD screen and allows the pages that seem to be very similar to the newspapers. It also eliminates eye fatigue and poor visibility caused by the sun's glare, and can be read from almost any angle, like paper. As described in the article "E-readers: its past, present and future", e-inc is a microencapsulated suspension in a transparent medium that contains particles that are half white and black the other white is positively charged, and black with a negative charge (Digital book readers). When planning the production of folding screens, developed by Stanford University, PV had invested $ 4.9 million in manufacturing facilities.

Promoted by Wistron as the world eReader "pocket first," the new Readius not only is smaller but weighs less than other e-readers, so it's a no-brainer to use on the fly without a bag or briefcase. Although the Amazon Kindle, the Sony Reader and some other e-readers also use DAP, casually known as e-paper, the Readius is the only pocket-sized version. Instead of having a screen proportionally children, the Readius offers a unique expandable screen.

Its display technology stock was 15 years in the making. The challenge for its creators was his Mechanical additional requirements: While the device needed to be thin, lightweight and small enough to fit in the back pocket of jeans, the screen had to be flexible, unbreakable and capable of rolled and unrolled repeatedly over a period of years while providing more battery life and readability of the largest e-readers on the market. Polymer Vision is confident it has met its objectives with the new Readius 2010.

The Readius applies his talent mobile device primarily to books, news, email (POP3 and IMAP support) and RSS feeds (text and audio). Here are some of the features most attractive of the device:
- 3.5G data connection
- Wireless worldwide
- GSM, GPRS, EDGE - Tri-Band
- UMTS, HSDPA - Dual Band
- 5-inch diagonal display with 16 gray scales (Kindle is smaller, 6-inch)
- Weight 4 ounces (compared with Kindle is smaller, 10.2 ounces)
- Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity for accessories
- Dimensions 4.5 "by 2.2" (Kindle smallest, the 8 " 5.3 ")
- Battery life up to 30 hours
- USB port Rechargeable battery
- Up to 8 GB of storage
- Portable Audio MP3, AAC, WMA

From late November 2009, Polymer Vision had not set a price for users willing to buy an e-Reader or must wait or make a decision alternative. Because the Sony Reader is being pre-sold since the company can not promise immediate shipping at this time, the Kindle and other e-readers who are readily available could benefit from strong demand for e-Reader in the coming months.
