Can a class 3B laser pointer damage my eyes?
I recently purchased a class 3B laser pointer on eBay. Runs 1 MW, and what I believe which is a very weak laser. I read online that class 3B lasers can cause damage to your eyes, however, was talking to 3B laser 500 MW power (500 times the power of the mines). Can anyone help me here and tell me if there is any risk to exposure, even momentarily, direct laser eye? Thanks in advance, Tom
If the laser is a visible laser at 1 mW, is not a class 3B laser. That would be a Laser Class 2. However, the class is more important than power. The class will take into account the wavelength as well. You must treat all as Class 3B lasers may be damaged if the eye immediately. Sounds good does not know the power of your laser or is misinterpreting the Laser class. For example, if the laser is green, there's a good chance that this is a doubled infrared laser, and infrared lasers are more dangerous than visible laser printers of the same power (because you can not see them blink reflex and not respond to invisible laser). On a side note, the laser class 2 (up to 1 mW visible laser) can damage vision and have reflected Blink to provide protection. My recommendation is to pay more attention to the class of laser power of your laser. If you are an expert in laser can more easily identify the dangers of lasers in particular.
