Typewriter, IBM Selectric II?
I have a typewriter IBM Selectric II, which has been stored for about 18 years. I was working when stored. I pulled it and tried to type but it's very hard. Tab, but again only when you press the Back button. Only a little art begins to run like crazy and clicking. Also, do not write letters. The Selectric ball looks good and there seems to be a lot of oil or grease in it. Any suggestions as to what may be the main problem and how to fix it. Could be the holder of the typewriter ribbon. The back button does not works well. Could it be simply a matter of not oiled / cleaned. I do not want to spend a fortune on it. Thank you. We put a heat lamp in the works and seems a bit better but still not written. It is not clicking now constantly high unless you hit the space bar or return and then starts again.
Probably needs a thorough cleaning. A large amount of drying oil.
