Thse specifications can be improved on an IBM Thinkpad 600e?
I just bought a 2nd hand IBM Thinkpad 600e for my girlfriend and I want to update some of its specifications, but I'm not sure if it's upgradable ThinkPad models considering this is a bit old. It should be emphasized that want to upgrade: Intel Pentium 2 (current) older and Intel Pentium 3 or 4, processor speed, hard drive, Microsoft Windows ME to XP, too, how much could this cost? (Pounds sterling.) Thanks!
Will be limited to existing processor without great expense. Therefore it has a 300 MHz or 366MHz processor. This just falls into the minimum system requirements for Windows XP. In addition, Windows XP has the minimum requirements of RAM too. The Thinkpad 600e is expandable to 288 MB. The hard disk should be upgradeable to the extent that handle system board. It appears that up to 18 GB from what I could find. You might want to adhere to Windows 98 for performance reasons. I think Windows XP can choke the laptop to death. Or you can look at as an alternative operating system Linspire. Hope this helps. Good luck.
