How do I convert cassette tapes to MP3 Digital ()?
I do transcription work and have a Panasonic machine. Any ideas on how I can change my cassette tapes to digital? The digital is much easier and not have to worry about the machine to break. I am willing to spend money, just do not know what is available.
Put simply, you need to connect your cassette player to your PC sound card, then play the recording of tapes, while on your PC. A step by step guide is available at: http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/DIY/index.php (follow the link to 'Cassette to CD) recording software is the key, there are some software downloads available free at: http://www.cassette2cd.co.uk/downloads.php I have used 'Audacity Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 'and' - Audacity is particularly popular because it's free! If you record in WAV format, expect file sizes of around 10MB per minute, or 1MB per minute for MP3 (at 128kbps). Once your digital versions of the recording on your PC, simply burn to a CD (Nero burning software or similar ..). If you use Magix Audio Cleaning, the software will burn an audio CD without additional software (assuming you have a CD recording drive, of course!) You lame_enc.dll file will need additional 'export to MP3 - this can also be downloaded from the free software page.
