With the increasing popularity both in the voice recognition (VR) software and outsourcing transcription work abroad, the forecast professional may seem a bit sad for the average medical transcription work from home these days. As MT veteran with eighteen years experience, I can say I have, in fact, lost accounts VR. I can only wonder if any of the customers could not keep were attracted to outsourcing. However, just would conclude that the days are numbered MT. In fact, I think with a bit of fine-tuning of personal and professional goals, transcription today can be as busy and successful as ever.

Change your mind

Anyone who works in an industry that is undergoing rapid change is likely to feel anxious. Often this concern is to have a scarcity mentality, thinking that is simply not enough work for everyone. Common thoughts nuisance can include: fear that one's work may become obsolete; concern that someone younger and less experienced labor can take one away, and not daring to raise the rates when other options for customers that may exist seem more affordable for them.

These thoughts can lead a transcription with experience to take a client to a much slower rate than is reasonable, given your skill level. And all this stems from doubts about its current market value. Well, I'm here to say that medical transcriptionists are still very necessary. The Department of Labor estimated 105,000 MT were working in 2004. For some, this may seem like a lot. But if you believe that Americans about how many medical records, 105,000 seems a paltry number of workers to write to all those reports! I with insufficient medical transcribers. So I suggest that MTS make the major change in the mentality of scarcity to abundance.

Persistence Pays Off

Because the majority of transcription seems to be accessed through the landing audio files quickly through the computer, it almost seems ridiculous that a doctor can still dictate into a tape recorder and that TM uses a desktop transcriber, and (horrors!) cassette tapes in order to carry out the work. Believe me, this scenario is still playing out. It is one of the most profitable accounts can get a TM, in fact. A doctor who just "not confidence "which to he or she could be the new voice recognition technology may well feel more comfortable dictating reports or how she has always done.

I think these are the best accounts to buy and I've heard that there are doctors who dictate on cassette tapes! Recently, the records medical department of a local hospital offers an excellent rate of transcription of the tapes, which is performed as a backup to the most sophisticated equipment that were using. Yes, the use of this type could include the collection and delivery of reports, but that is something that an MT can take into account the price, since it is a service that few offer.

My advice? Search the Medical Records Department of the regional hospitals and individual physicians and see if they are interested in their services. Here is where it is essential to have a beautifully written sales letter and excellent people skills when you meet with the head of department or physician. The persistence will pay off when you do this type of landing accounts.

A goldmine of transcription

Sometimes MT seem to forget all about the general transcription. GT, as it is called, definitely has its advantages. Each industry has its own jargon and terminology. However, in my opinion, nothing is as difficult to learn as medicalese. And while almost all the medical reports do not seem to be a statistical report, people who transcribe the broader reports routinely ask for higher rates when needed change considers that a job is a "rush." The change seems to relaxed transcription more room to breathe, and personally, I think this kind of work less stressful.

I saves me the best news for last: with the popularity of Teleseminars, Seminars and podcasts, it seems that almost everyone has something that needs to be transcribed audio. In the last six months I've had more requests for general physicians audio. These customers just find me. But you want to know where to get customers who are in a field that uses a large number of transcription? Coaching! That is correct. Personal and business coaches to do their fair share of teleseminars and each of these needs in a transcript. And with training as one of the best professionals in the next ten years, the news is really good for transcribers.
