Black and white film is developed, or processed, when the film, which has already been exposed photographically, is treated with products chemicals to produce a positive or negative image. Photographic developing so does the latent image contained in the photographic film exposed in a visible image, which becomes permanent and can not be affected by light.
Black and white film does not develop in the same way that the film color and there are actually several different ways that the film can be developed, depending on factors like the composition of the photographic film or paper. The process gelatin silver is the most common method of development and can be used independently of the exact composition of the film. There are two ways different in that black and white photos can be created with this silver gelatin process, being the process of developing black and white base and investment in black and white process and both of these processes involve film is being treated in a series of chemical baths.
The black and white process-based development the film begins to be soaked in a developer, which transforms the latent image to silver, and is then terminated by placing the film in a stop bath or rinse with clean water as this stops the action of the developers. The film is then soaked in a fixative, which gets rid of any remaining silver halide salts and makes permanent image is no less sensitive to light. After treatment fixer, clears his film in clean water and then diluted in a non-wetting agent ion to help it dry and remove any hard water marks. After that, the movie, which is now called a negative, dried, cut and put in plastic bags transparent. The image contained in each negative is then enlarged and reflected on photographic paper, creating a picture.
Investment and white black process is identical to black and white process of basic development, except it takes several steps further. The steps come in after the movie add is treated in the stop bath and have money the film, and eradicate the negative image developed. The film, which contains a latent positive image of salts silver halide not developed and the unexposed, is then overshadowed by intentionally exposing to light or certain chemicals to degrade the image quality. These silver halide salts remaining are then developed, another developer, and a positive image that is created. After that, the basic process up again at the stage fixative treatment.
Toning is a step in the treatment of black and white emulsions and used to give some color background images. An acquaintance toning example is in sepia images.
Black and white film can be developed in house in small-scale processing climbs or can be developed commercially, either in processing or professional studies in automatic processing machines. The treatment method chosen depends on Photographer's available budget and what it intends to do with the photographs.
