Black and white film is developed, or processed, when the film, which has already been exposed photographically, is treated with products chemicals to produce a positive or negative image. Photographic developing so does the latent image contained in the photographic film exposed in a visible image, which becomes permanent and can not be affected by light.
Black and white film does not develop in the same way that the film color and there are actually several different ways that the film can be developed, depending on factors like the composition of the photographic film or paper. The process gelatin silver is the most common method of development and can be used independently of the exact composition of the film.
