I started my Internet marketing career at the tender age of 14 when my parents bought our first computer. HP was a decent machine and had access Internet phone. My motivation for deciding to make money online, plus the fact that I wanted money, was that I wanted the money! There were too many choices not for a 14 year old trying to make money, I mean you could not even get a job until they were 16 years old. Mowing the lawn was not for me is, I'm not big on physical labor.
It was a complete failure. Programs started with inbox dollars that pay for reading e-mails. Also could get paid for surfing websites. I'm sure you're familiar with them. They suck. I've heard of some people making some decent money with the programs, but I do not see how. It was too boring for my taste, especially when using dial-up and average page takes almost a minute to load. He was never able to accumulate enough credits to get any checks sent. Enough could not have been persistent, but the results just put me off that path. I decided I needed a website. I had no money, but could not get free, so I went to make a website!
This is where my age and experience I think I failed. I was just treading on what to put on my page. Not that I did not have any topics of interest, but I had nothing to say. Thinking about that now, probably have much to say, but maybe I was not sure myself, who knows? I decided to get one of those free shopping and start advertising that the hope sell products. The sad part is that he knew nothing about marketing, and in those days, everything I was reading about it was to put banner ads, pay for ads (impossible in my case), link exchanges, MLM programs and such. Even my business cards printed on it then (not real, just paper construction and trimming them. "How stupid it must have been, because it was all in vain. Nor can we really say that much effort put into it, or even could have. When you have to fight for time on the computer only in the family, is hard to get any steady work to be done.
I did what you surf some other site and get visitors to their own, but you know that traffic is shit, because Web sites that look at you even give a second look. Why what to expect that the other participants in the program to give your site a second look? I guess it was a matter of trying anything i could see some response in the network.
My biggest mistake during this period, and one that still haunts me the idea that "I" would be rejected, or rather, uninteresting in the network. Why would anyone want to read what he had to say? What can I say? I'm just a kid who just recently opened its eyes to the world!
Because of that, I injected a lot of "falsehood" and wanted the professional (at least in my opinion) looks, although there was nothing professional about what he was doing. I was just an imitation of the Internet for a while and I did nothing, especially when you aspire to imitate, and are trying to duplicate the work of people who have much more experience and resources to carry out their intentions.
It took a lot of just a waste of time dreaming with wealth, and the pure failure, before he began to realize what really had to make some money online, and then I found my biggest obstacle to overcome. I was too young!
Or at least that's what I was thinking at that time. Was so bad ....?
